Program Description
Eureka is the world’s biggest public network for international cooperation in R&D and innovation, present in over 45 countries. It is a decentralised intergovernmental organisation aiming to boost the productivity and competitiveness of industries by funding and supporting international collaborative market-driven R&D projects.
All parties will provide all necessary assistance to project partners during project proposal, evaluation and monitoring phase. In addition, all parties will facilitate EUREKA application process and acquisition of the EUREKA label for accepted proposals.
The Israel Innovation Authority and NRC IRAP will provide access to public funds for jointly labelled projects. Support shall be granted to each partner by its own Authorities, in accordance with existing laws, rules, regulations and national procedures.
The purpose of the Industrial R&D Program is to support greater collaboration among Canadian and Israeli companies and researchers.
Funding
For Israeli companies, the Israel Innovation Authority provides grants of up to 50% of the company’s project budget.
For Canadian companies, NRC IRAP provides grants of up to CAD $600,000 of the company’s project budget as detailed here.
Criteria
Although this call invites proposals related to any technological or market area, special attention is being given to the following sectors:
- Health and bio-convergence, including healthy ageing, mental health, biomedicine and biomedical engineering.
- Digital technologies, including cyber security, smart cities and smart mobility.
- Agricultural technologies and agri-food technologies.
- Clean technologies and low carbon economy technologies, including materials for clean fuels, clean transportation/mobility, climate resilient building/infrastructure, renewable energy, water and waste water management.

Application Process
The deadline for EOI submission is 27/01/21. Please download the EOI form and send it to [email protected] for approval. Please note, it is highly to complete the EOI phase as early as possible, in order to receive our confirmation to a potentially eligible project for funding before submitting a proposal. Qualifying applicants will be invited to submit the more detailed on line proposal with the IIA and with EUREKA Network.
The deadline for Proposal submission is 15/03/21 at 12:00 (Israel time).
For Israeli companies, the application process is detailed in the incentive program for Bilateral R&D in the Hebrew website.
In addition, the Eureka form should be attached to the proposal. All partners must complete the EUREKA project application form online which is available in the call webpage.
